I’m not afraid to admit that I love LA. I’ll be working here all week, staying in a great house in Santa Monica that I rented for myself and the crew. I get tired of hotels, and it’s fun to pretend I live here for a little while… Here are a few images from another recent shoot down south.

Happy long weekend! Here is some new work for Joie de Vivre hotels- we had the best week in Oahu shooting this! Many thanks to my great crew and my friend Mike McHale of Hawaii Prop Rentals for the perfect Vespa.

Oahu- Very happy to be working in Hawaii all week!

California Home & Design: Cookhouse

This was a super fun shoot for California Home & Design at Cookhouse, which is a really gorgeous space for cooking and entertaining. I also got to hang out with the talented women behind Refinery 29, Rue magazine,  PopSugar, Apartment Therapy and EaterSF, and enjoy an amazing meal by Chef Caroline Fey of City Kitchen. Beautiful styling by Natasha Kolenko. Thanks everyone!

Here is the latest cover + feature for Sunset magazine. I had the best time exploring British Columbia, Oregon and the Sierras for this shoot. Many thanks to Yvonne Stender and Jeffery Cross of Sunset for always being so great to work with, Lisa Moir for amazing styling, and Julie Roll/Look Model Agency for modeling (in a bikini the freezing cold)!

Summer cover + feature for 7x7 magazine! Many thanks to the amazing team- especially Lisa Moir (wardrobe + props) and Renee Rael (hair & make-up).

                                                   happy summer!

                                                   happy summer!

Summer. Work has led me to wine country (Napa, Sonoma, Alexander and Anderson valleys)  for the last few weeks on really fun assignments- it’s been great to get out of the city. I’ve been shooting some amazing folks and their farms, wineries, hotels, restaurants and shops. Not much better than sunshine, swimming, dinner outside, backlit oak trees and long days. Off to Boonville tomorrow, a dreamy town in there ever was one. I owe a big thanks to the cast and crew- thanks for working such long hours.

That’s a wrap! Just finished another fun shoot for the lovely folks at Carve Designs. Here are some images from our shoot back in January-  next month, we’ll be breaking in my beautiful new studio in SF.

Here’s a little peek at what I’ve been up to… I’ve been on the road for 6 weeks, in Palm Springs, LA, Arizona, home to SF for a 2 days, then back to LA and finally to  New Mexico this week. I grew up in Colorado, and I always feel at home when I’m back in the dry mountain air.  These images are from yesterday- it was one of the best days yet of this adventure, and it reminded me that being away from home this much is worth it.  I took pictures while riding a lovely horse through a Cottonwood oasis with 2 great cowboys named Ernesto and Charley at my side, and reminisced about my childhood rodeo days. They invited me to come back and compete in their summer rodeo, I’m hoping to make a road trip back here to do it!  Fried green chiles and beer for lunch, followed by an inspring visit to Georgia O’Keeffe’s old stomping grounds- I love this quote of her’s: ” The days you work are the best days”- it perfectly summed up the fulfillment I feel as this shoot wraps up. The day ended hiking in the Sandia mountains, the light was perfect. I’ve got one more action packed day shooting in Santa Fe. Tonight, I fly back to the fog, and to a week working in the studio. It’s always good to mix things up.
